Thanks very much for coming to my workshop today on how to feel good, love your life and achieve all of your goals before Christmas. This is exactly what we are going to talk about today and we are going to start off with a first exercise which is called ‘what’s new and good’? So I am going to get you to do some work first of all and just hand out a sheet here which has numbers 1-20 on the sheet and I want you to write down 20 things that you are happy about right now. It can be absolutely anything, and it doesn’t have to be about fitness but if you are feeling happy about an exercise session that you have done recently or about some goals that you have recently achieved then it could be, or it could be that you got a parking space on your way here today. It could be that you have tomorrow off work, you are going on holiday next week but whatever it is, anything you like. Maybe you had a nice breakfast this morning, someone made you a coffee at work, whatever it is, any 20 things that you feel happy about right now and don’t stop, keep writing until you have filled that page.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Great, keep that kind of feeling, feeling happy, just keep that in mind for the rest of today’s workshop. The next thing we are going to do is I am going to talk for a little bit and you just have to listen for the next part. So I may have already told you I am listening to an audio book at the moment called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. The Secret has taught me some new things but it has also just brought a lot of things that I already knew to my attention again. So what I wanted to do is share with you today some of what is the Secret and what I have learned in this audiobook. So in the Secret it talks about like attracting like. Things like when you have a thought and you feel happy you actually have more similar thoughts and you attract more similar thoughts. So when you felt happy and you wrote down 1 thing, then the next happy thought came quite easy and the next one and the next one. It’s like a sequence where you have one happy thought after the other. So like attracts like but also the same can be said if you have a negative thought or a bad thought, or for example when we have a bad day. When we have a bad day it all starts with one incident perhaps and you maybe get out of bed and stub your toe or something like that and then you go to the bathroom and you have run out of toothpaste and then this happens and that happens and you spill something everywhere and it kind of has a knock on effect and you can go on for the whole day having a bad day and everything knock on everything else. So how like attracts like works both ways, good feelings attract good feelings and bad feelings attract bad feelings and bad incidents and effects. So that is just something to think about that like attracts like. So what it has been talking about in this audio book is the Secret being the law of attraction. So like attracts like is called the law of attraction and it’s a universal law, 1 of 12 and I am not going to go into the other ones but this one being one of the main ones. We are not going to go into it in loads of detail today but I just want you to be open to thinking about the law of attraction whether you believe it or not, it exists and we are going to talk a little bit more about it.
The law of attraction gives you the things that you think about most and we will go into more details as we go through. It’s really obedient, it’s not biased at all, it doesn’t matter if you are a good person or a bad person, the law of attraction works for everyone on this planet and it doesn’t understand negation. It doesn’t understand if you say I don’t want something, it thinks that you do want. So I don’t want it to rain, all the law of attraction know is that you have thought about rain so rain will be attracted to you. It never stops; it’s like the law of gravity. We don’t question gravity whether it is going to work or not going to work, it never stops does it. If I drop this from here it’s going to fall to the ground, the law of gravity is always happening and the law of attraction is always happening. The law of attraction also works even if you don’t believe in it so it is worth knowing about it. If it is going to apply to you and even if you don’t believe that it is going to apply to you it is worth having some knowledge about it so that you can make it work for you, not just around you.
Did you know what your life right now is a reflection of your past thoughts? This is another topic that is talked about in this audiobook, it’s also available in a paperback and is a film as well so if you were interested after today going away and researching it but I am just listening to it on an audiobook as I find it quite powerful doing it that way. What it talks about is your life right now being a reflection of your past thoughts. The great things and the not so great things. It’s quite a complex thing to think about if you have never been aware of this sort of stuff before but take it for now that this is true as I hope you will but you maybe didn’t know that. Did you know that your thoughts have a frequency? Good, happy, positive thoughts have a high frequency and bad, unhappy, negative thoughts have a low frequency. So I want you to take in what I am telling you right now, for example talking about frequencies, TV channels use different frequencies to display different programmes, do we know that yes? So what happens when you don’t like what you are watching on your TV? You change the channel to change the frequency to change the picture. So what should you do if you don’t like what you see before you in your life right now, bearing in mind your thoughts are what you see, so your past thoughts are what you see in your life right now. So if you don’t like what you see in your life right now what should you do? Change your thoughts, to change your frequency, change your experiences. It’s that simple like a TV channel. Change your thoughts, that changes the frequency and you change your experiences. So can you see how simple it is to change anything in your life right now?
What frequency you are on right now?
To achieve your goals you need to be operating on a high frequency. So we said high frequencies were good thoughts and so when you wrote down the 20 things that you are happy about right now you were on a high frequency then. So hopefully right now you are on a high frequency because you have just written down 20 or more things that you actually feel really good about right now. So in this room today should be on a high frequency. To get on that high frequency you need to think about what you want and not what you don’t want and we said that is often not the case. We are usually thinking about what we don’t want, we don’t want to be late, I don’t want to put on weight, I don’t want to not be able to do my 5K run. It’s not about what you want, it’s about what you don’t want so we need to be thinking and speaking and focusing on what we do want, not what we don’t want.
What do you want?
That is the thing we have to get to the bottom of today, so I have another exercise for you to think about what you want. So I am going to hand out these sheets here and there are 3 spaces for you to write down what you want. It starts with I WANT and it can be absolutely anything and it doesn’t have to be about fitness or health or weight loss or wellbeing. It can be I want a new car. I want a perfect marriage or I want whatever you want. It can be I want to weight your perfect weight. It can be I want to run a marathon, it can be whatever but it has to be about what you want, don’t just pick things that I have said. So we are all on high frequencies now and we are all happy and that’s good. So what you have just written down there on the sheets need to be your dominant thoughts so which we class as your mental attitude, so when we got on to talk about positive mental attitude that is basically that your metal attitude is your dominant thought. So if your dominant thought is I am amazing, I am great, I am confident, I am fit, happy person then that is a positive mental attitude, it’s a very positive attitude going one step further than positive mental attitude but positive mental attitude means you are on a high frequency most of the time. In order for them to become your reality then those need to be your dominant thoughts and you need to be focused on it, thinking about them all the time, speaking about them to people that you meet. Not necessarily, hi I am Jo, nice to meet you, I want to run a 5k. It doesn’t have to be straight in there but drop it into conversations when you can. If you are talking to someone who asks what you are doing at the weekend you could say I am going out for a run because I really want to run a 5k next year so I am going to do 30 minutes this weekend then that is great. Or I am going to Bicester Village this weekend to look at Mulberry handbags, as I really want this bag. Talk about it, get excited about it and then you are on a high frequency up here talking about what you want. It’s just about thinking, speaking and focusing on it and you will get it.
You need to visualise yourself having got what you want so walking around with the Mulberry handbag, running the 5k, going on holiday with the family, having the happy life that you want, living a long time. You need to visualise them and be more aware of the opportunities and be passionate about what you want. Talk about your goals and what you want with passion, and not just saying I want to run a 5k but I don’t think I can do it. Or I want to go on holiday but I have been saying this for years and I don’t think I will. Every time you do that it is mixed messages. We talked about this last month, when you say one thing and do another the Universe doesn’t know what this person wants. They are saying they want the holiday but I don’t think I will achieve it so what do you do then, you have sent out mixed messages. So you have to get super focused and don’t even consider that you are not going to get what you want, you are going to get what you want because it’s what you want and you deserve it and you are going to get it because you have asked for it. Some examples, some of my goals, I want a black Audi R8 and actually I saw it on Made In Chelsea and thought, that’s the one I want. It was owned by a personal trainer on Made In Chelsea as well so when I say that I just got so excited because I recognised it and I could visualise myself because I saw this guy in it and I thought I could be in that, and I was picturing myself driving off with it in Chelsea. I was more aware of it as I know that was my goal. I was so much more focused on it. If I had thought I want a nice car but I hadn’t thought of what it was then I am never going to see that am I, I would never see that was an Audi R8 as I wouldn’t have known that is the car that I want. Do you see how it works? I am attracted to it because I know that is what I want and that is what I am focused on. I am passionate about it so when I saw that I got really excited about it and now I am telling you about it and that is reaffirming that that is what I want. I am asking again the Universe for an Audi R8, it doesn’t matter when it happens, I just know that now because I have said that I am going to get it and that that is what I want then I will get it. At some point in my life I will get that Audi R8 and that is all that matters. I don’t have to worry about how I am going to get it, it’s in my head and I will get it because I believe. So visualise yourself, if you didn’t put down any weight loss, fitness, running goals, just visualise yourself. Think about it, play it through in your mind literally from the moment you get the dress out the wardrobe and you take it off the hanger, run it through in your mind like it is actually happening and you are one step closer to it happening, thinking about it like that and make that your dominant thought, when you are getting dressed in other clothes you could be visualising that you are putting on that dress again and how good you feel when you put it on. When you are running and when you are training think like you are running the 5k there and then even when you are not. Think like you are crossing that finish line and how good you will feel when you do it. Visualise it, get excited about it, you are smiling so you are on the right frequency because you are smiling, happy and excited about it so that is what I want you to do when you are thinking about what you actually want.
Feelings
It could be a challenge to monitor your 60,000 thoughts per day because you might be thinking every time I have a bad thought its going to attract a bad thing into my life, I have to be more careful about my thoughts and things like that, then yeah you do but there is a way of monitoring your thoughts that requires less concentration and that is why we have our feelings. Our feelings tell us what we are thinking, so when you are feeling good you are having good thoughts. There is no way that you could be having bad thoughts, it is not possible to have bad thoughts when you are feeling good. Would you agree? The same can be said if you are having bad feelings you can’t be in a good mood. If I was stood here saying it’s horrible outside and I have so much work on and life is really rubbish right not then I can’t be feeling good. My tone goes, I start talking in a deeper tone, I am not smiling, my body language changes. It has such a knock on effect where as when I am feeling good and like things are amazing and I have 20 good things written down there that are good in my life right now and I am happy about these 3 things that I am going to focus on then my pitch goes up, I am more alive and energised and it just has such a knock on effect so I feel good because I am talking about good things and I am focused on good things. It is impossible to feel bad and be having good thoughts and the opposite way round as well. So feelings let us know what we are thinking.
When you feel good you have good thoughts and like we said at the beginning of the workshop, when you have good thoughts you attract more good thoughts and good things because like attracts like. That means you will achieve your goals because when you are on a high frequency you are on the right track to achieving your goals. You can’t achieve your goals if you are on a low frequency and in a bad mood and bad things are attracted into your life and you are having bad feelings you can’t achieve your goals. So bad thoughts attract bad thoughts and bad things mean you won’t achieve your goals.
How do you feel right now?
So we have a final activity for you to do and that is this. I want you to write down 10 ways that you can feel good in any moment. Things like mood shifters. So if you are having a bad day what can you think about to make you feel good? So it could be that your list that you had at the beginning could be one of those ways to feel good. Read through my lists of 20 things that make me feel good right now, that could be one of your ways. It could be putting your favourite song on your iPod and just switching off and listening to that. It could be depending on where you are obviously putting 8 out of 10 cats on iPlayer and watching that. It could be going for a walk in the sunshine or whatever the weather is like and feeling good. It could be coming here for a session and feeling good. So 10 ways that you personally can feel good.
Summary
Obviously we have covered quite a lot today, hopefully it has kind of gone a little bit full circle, there is loads more I can tell you about but what I would say is buy this book, it has changed my outlook on life, it’s changed my life. I know it will have changed my life as I am now thinking in such a more positive, high frequency way that I know that will have a knock on effect on my life, I just know it. I don’t know how it will but I know it will. It just feels good and I know I am then on the right track.
So to summarise we have said like attract like so when we are having good thoughts and good feelings they are going to attract more good thoughts and good feelings which is great, we all want to feel good and happy so let’s do that more often. Your dominant thoughts become your future reality. So if we are thinking about the things that you wrote down that you want they will become your reality, you just have to focus on them, believe and expect that you will receive them. Your feelings tell you what you are thinking about so that is an easy one. How do I feel? I feel good, then great we are on the right track. If you feel bad and we usually know when we feel bad because we are annoyed, bored, arguing, irritable. These are then not good feelings are they so we need to change the frequency when you are feeling like that and the things you have just written down are what you are going to do to change it. Feel good, positive thoughts, high frequency, achieve your goals. You control your own destiny. I control mine. You are in control of it with your thoughts and that is all you need to know.
Make a choice before you leave this room to attract what you want not what you don’t want into your life. Just concentrate on feeling good and the results will follow.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is what I have been listening to if you want to write it down. She does have a couple more. The Power and The Hero, which I have just moved onto. I am not saying take my word for it because you control your own destiny so if you want to believe it then believe it and do it. If you don’t want to believe it then don’t believe it and don’t do it but just be open to the fact that there might be something out there that we don’t know about or understand. I don’t understand it, I am not saying that I do but I don’t understand the law of gravity and I don’t think many people do, I don’t understand electricity but that doesn’t mean I don’t use it just because I don’t understand it.
