“I was attending the local gym but getting bored. I came to onesixeight: fitness to try and find a more interesting way of keeping fit, and one that can give me more of a push instead of hiding at the back of a class.
I wasn’t sure what to expect and was unsure if I would be able to keep up, but I have really enjoyed working with onesixeight: fitness and love how it is alternating exercises for short periods of time, therefore we change exercise before I get bored. “I felt like I was sleep walking through life due to a period of mild depression. As I started feeling better, I wanted to take control of my life again and I include exercise in my routine as part of a new positive outlook.

Initially, it was quite a commitment paying upfront for 3 months training. But after a couple of taster sessions, which I enjoyed and made me realise how much I needed to get fit, I was up for the challenge. The upfront payment also helps keeps me focused by not missing sessions and working hard.

I am really enjoying my classes; I like the variety and the fact that different areas are targeted. I am also enjoying exercising on the trampoline, but I think my daughters absolutely love it! “I had felt very unfit for a while with my level of exercise being very poor. I knew I had to do something with a big birthday coming up. I hate going to the gym and found it difficult to find the time to go to longer exercise classes. I liked the idea of small group shorter fitness classes.
At first, I was very worried about not being able to do the exercises and not keeping up. The trial session helped and even though I could barely walk afterwards I still enjoyed it!

“I had almost zero fitness before I joined onesixeight: fitness a year ago. I had tried the gym and some excercise classes before but found them boring and not working for me.

I saw the advert about onesixeight: fitness on Facebook so I thought  I would give it a go. I was thinking it will be too expensive and that I can’t afford it and also that there will be all very fit people so I’ll make myself look ridiculous, but still I wanted to try…

This was my best decission so far! Exercising is fun for me now – I can’t live without it now. My fitness level has gone up, I feel energised, stronger and happier. Every single trainer pushes us to the limit. Love it, love it, love it!

My best result so far is starting to run. I always hated running, having tried it a few times, I found myself out of breath and giving up after few meters…but I always wanted to run. Kris’ Personal Training Success Story – “I never thought I would be a runner… but I completed the Marathon in May (26.2 miles over the 4 weeks of May)
“I have been training with Becky for a couple of years now and initially I joined because I wanted to lose weight and get fitter. I don’t like exercising in large groups, so the smaller, tailored classes appealed to me. Classes also fit with my work day so I can exercise and juggle work / childcare also. I was convinced that I couldn’t fit exercise into my day – which I now have and it has become part of my routine. I was also convinced that everyone would be super fit and I would be unable to do any of the exercises. The trainers are great and tailor classes to everyones own abilities and there is a supportive, friendly atmosphere.The training is supportive, flexible and tailored – especially relevant for me as I have a hip injury for which I am undergoing treatment. The trainers tailor the classes so that I have alternatives to exercises that  I am unable to do for rehab / physio reasons. My best result is starting running! I never thought I would ever be a runner but with my weight loss (down 4 dress sizes), increased fitness and the support of trainers and class members I have completed the Marathon in May a week early (26.2 miles over the 4 weeks of May) and raised almost £300 for BHF in the process. “I have always been involved in sports including, Hockey, Football and athletics.While playing football I picked up a knee injury, my consultant advised the injury could be long term if I continued playing, so I decided to bring this to an end. Instead, I joined my local gym to keep my fitness levels up. I found the gym to be ok but never really pushed myself and always happy to limit myself to my comfort zone. “I’ve always been determined to keep in shape , joined gyms and exercised at home when possible, which can get boring. I really wish I had more time to exercise but fitting it in around a hectic work life is challenging at times.
I had driven past the onesixeight: fitness studio a few times and saw the free trial advert so I thought I’d try it out. I was approaching my 50th too and wanted to get that extra push from personal trainers and small sessions.

“I was 4 and a half months pregnant, when I started the classes, and wanted to maintain a good level of fitness. I have always exercised on a daily basis, but I felt it was important to have guidance and support to make sure I don’t push myself too far.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the process so far. The instructors clearly research what I should not be doing and give me a few adaptation options per exercise. This way, I am not effecting anybody else’s session and can keep involved.
I am nearly 7 months [pregnant] now and feel good, healthy and strong. I have kept some level of muscle tone which is what I wanted. I think it is easy to make pregnancy an excuse not to exercise as my motivation levels are not as high! This is why the groups work for me twice a week! As long as I am careful and know my limits, I aim to keep going as long as I can leading up to my due date!”

“Before I started working with onesixeight: fitness, I was teaching Pilates 4 evenings a week on top of a full time job, and struggling to commit enough time for my own fitness, as well as that of my clients! Having reduced my classes, I was looking at ways to get fit in addition to practicing Pilates at home. I thought of Becky, having taken part in her running programmes in the past.
I was quite intent initially on having 1-2-1 sessions, so was hesitant at first when Becky suggested group sessions. I like to really focus on what I’m doing, and so I’m probably not massively chatty in class, but I do quite enjoy the group setting! I was also worried that my fitness mojo wouldn’t last, but 3 months in – I’m still fully committed!
I’ve enjoyed it so far, and I do feel better for it. I’ve enjoyed working with different instructors. I love the fact I can flex my class times around other commitments – it’s different every week!
As a result, my core strength has improved a lot – which is great for demoing advanced Pilates exercises in my classes!”

“I have always played a variety of sports (tennis and squash), as well as running and cycling. However, I really wanted to work on my core strength, cardio and overall stamina. I loved the idea of 30 minutes bursts of fitness activity too. First thing in the morning is a brilliant way to start the day; it wakes me up and fires me up.
I was slightly concerned that some of the ladies might not be too comfortable with men joining the class but that wasn’t the case.
I love the variety of trainers and their different approach to the sessions. Not knowing what you’re letting yourself in for every session is great – you’re not apprehensive because you don’t know how hard it’s going to be! The group spirit of encouragement works a treat too. Everyone roots for one another, so there’s added motivation there.  The trainers also are quick to point out where my technique can be improved (happens quite a lot!)
Since I started, I can really feel a difference to my core strength. A way to go – but heading in the right direction!”

“I had worked with onesixeight: fitness about 4 years ago when I wanted to start running. That was a great success and helped me to progress through a 5k, 10k and up to a half marathon well within my target times, until a knee injury and a lack of time/energy put paid to regular running.
I needed a new focus and a work change meant I was able to commit to regular exercise sessions. I returned to onesixeight and took advantage of a ‘taster’ session. Onesixeight sessions are in small groups in a studio and tailored to support a broad range of exercise and fitness needs.
I really wanted to work on my core strength and to tidy up an upper body I’d happily neglected for over 40 years until mirrors reminded me more of car tyres than half dozen cans! Each of my three sessions a week gave me a real boost of fitness confidence and whilst I couldn’t do everything at first, I was looking forward to every session.
I’d never enjoyed gyms before but the small group sessions felt different and more targeted to my needs than traditional gym routines. They also turned exercise into a fun social thing with constant encouragement from the rest of the group. All the instructors are very well trained and help you to achieve your goals, be more motivated and to make sure the exercises are done safely. All very reassuring for gym and fitness novices like me.
To encourage progress I agreed very specific goals and a personalised programme of ‘homework’ was developed to help me. I’m now halfway through the programme but already I feel more alert, energised and motivated to push myself forwards. The mirror is already showing me a ‘lower profile’!

“I had got myself into a mental state that exercise just wasn’t for me – I didn’t enjoy it, I didn’t have time for it and I avoided it at all costs. At the same time, I was feeling sluggish and knew that something needed to change. Becky convinced me to try a session and I found that perhaps it wasn’t quite as bad as I’d feared!
I travel regularly for work – both across the UK and overseas – meaning I spend about 15 weeks of the year away. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to take full advantage of sessions, or I’d end up missing them, but Becky’s flexibility and vast choice of session times mean that I definitely make full use of my membership! Becky also provided me with a training schedule for when I was away, which encouraged me to make use of the hotel gyms that I had previously avoided!

“I began training with onesixeight: fitness about 2 and a half years ago, when I was stuck in rut following an injury to my ankle.  I decided I needed a bit of help to get back into exercising and a healthier lifestyle so after seeing Becky’s pink car in various places in Loughborough I decided it would be a good idea to enlist her help.  I never imagined then that almost 2 and a half years later it would still be a massive part of my life.  I have gained so much from training with onesixeight: fitness, friends, confidence, strength, determination and a much healthier way of life.Initially my reservations were that I wouldn’t be able to do what I was asked to do, but I soon discovered that the trainers would adapt sessions to suit my ability, needs and my goals.  Also, being a primary school teacher I don’t have a lot of spare time during the week, but the flexibility and availability suits my already very busy schedule.  The 6:30am sessions set me up perfectly for a busy day ahead.I have thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at onesixeight: fitness, the trainers and other clients are friendly and welcoming which makes it all the more enjoyable.  I have been struggling with an injury for quite some time now and the trainers do an amazing job of adapting exercises to enable me to continue to work hard.  The support and advice I have achieved over the last 2 and a half years has been invaluable.  This has included nutritional advice which has enabled me to lose approximately 30kg and mind-set advice which has completely changed my outlook on life.  As part of the programme we are encouraged to set goals at regular intervals, personally, this helps to keep me focussed on what I am working towards and the feeling of accomplishment when I have reached a goal is fantastic.I have had lots of fantastic results whilst working with onesixeight: fitness, but if I had to choose only one it would be my running.  I went from doing walk/jog intervals where I would jog for 30 seconds and then walk for 30 seconds, but last July, I achieved the biggest goal I have ever set myself, which was to run 10k non-stop.  It was an amazing feeling to know that all my hard work and determination had finally paid off , and I had achieved my goal.”

“Before I joined onesixeight:fitness, I was studying full time, working and looking after two young children and hadn’t done any exercise for over a year – I’d put on weight and was feeling really unhealthy.  I hadn’t done exercise for so long that I didn’t really know where to start on my own.
I heard about onesixeight:fitness through a friend and as they were offering a free trial session I decided that I had nothing to lose by giving it a go!
I really enjoyed my first session and despite being worried that it might be too hard and everyone else would be much better than me, they were all very encouraging and supportive.  I remember quite early on when everyone else finished a set of exercises before me, but they carried on with me until I had finished too so that I wasn’t doing it by myself.
I’ve been going three times a week for nearly six months – it’s just become a normal part of my life now.  I’ve really enjoyed working with the different trainers which means there’s lots of variety in the sessions.  They are all really friendly, professional and motivating. Nicki’s Personal Training Success Story – “The result for me is a double-whammy of increased mental and physical resilience.”

“I was aware that my life was becoming more sedentary. I used to have a daily walk to work and back (25 minutes each way). Since starting work at Loughborough University in December 2014, while living in Nottingham, I was spending much more time in the car. I was beginning to feel more stressed and anxious. I’d also stopped doing the regular line dancing I enjoyed, but was continuing to bounce on my mini trampoline at home. I’ve had a mini trampoline for quite some years so how could I resist finding out more about ‘Becky Says Bounce’? I was pleased to get involved with the latest Guinness World Record Attempt and signed up for a free taster session, thinking it could do no harm.

Before attending, Becky put me at ease right away.  I was impressed by Becky’s marketing and how well she followed up on the opportunity to bring me in for that taster session. We exchanged texts even while I was on holiday in Lanzarote. I had to follow through after that! The importance of exercise to my mental health is as significant to me as the desire to maintain and enhance my physical fitness. In fact, it probably feels more essential to me. I experience depression and anxiety, and regular fitness sessions help to boost mood and energy levels.

The programme has been thoroughly welcoming and all of the personal trainers are great. I enjoy the variety of activities and the intensity of a 30-minute workout. It helps not knowing what to expect each time. I simply turn up and say hello to everybody and then do as I’m told. Occasionally I’ve been in sessions by myself, but usually with two or three others, and that social and motivational element is very encouraging. We get competitive only when we want to. Mostly, as individuals, we’re aiming only to increase our own potential, with the bonus of not having to feel alone while we do it. This support and camaraderie make the sessions fun even when the exercises are physically tough.

My best results so far are feeling more energised after each session and I’m very pleased with the toning effects, particularly around the waist, hip and thigh areas. I didn’t get involved in order to lose weight. That has never felt important to me. I got involved in order to feel better about myself – to hopefully feel as strong and healthy as I’m able. The result for me is a double-whammy of increased mental and physical resilience. I won’t pretend it’s always easy, but the commitment is worth it.”

Keely’s Online Personal Training Success Story – “My best result so far is that I can run!”

“I was a new-ish mum, who just wasn’t exercising at all. I had exercised all through my pregnancy with Becky, and it kept me feeling really trim and healthy despite my growing bump. Looking after a newborn and getting out and about several times a week helped me lose my ‘baby weight’ really quickly. However, I returned to a new, full-time job when my little one was 9 months old, and I just didn’t have time (or wouldn’t make time!) for exercise. It really came to head during the summer, when all of my clothes were feeling tight, I felt terrible and I needed to do something. I got in touch with Becky because I’d enjoyed my sessions when I worked in Loughborough, and she told me she could help me and we could do ‘virtual’ personal training. I also needed an option of being able to train ‘at home’ after baby bedtime as my husband was working oversea for a lot of 2015, so I couldn’t get out to exercise elsewhere.

In the beginning, I honestly thought the whole thing would not work. The idea of personal training without someone pushing me seemed crazy. I didn’t think I’d have the motivation to do it, and to be quite frank the idea of ‘squatting’ in my living room seemed ridiculous. That said, having met and worked with Becky before, I knew it was worth a shot.

Even now, I still find the fact that I have ‘virtual’ personal training sessions crazy – more so that I have found the motivation to do the tasks I have set. Doing the online workout videos feels like having Becky in the room with me. Sometimes I even find myself asking her to be quiet whilst I’m concentrating on the plank! I’ve had a great programmes written, and they’ve all been flexible to fit in all of the other things that go on in life. Now the husband is back, I’ve taken to exercising outside more, and Becky has got me started on a running programme, which I’m really quite enjoying! I also love the weekly phone calls with Becky – I think these are the key to making me stick to my programme. Accountability makes all the difference.

My best result so far is that I can run! I mean, actually keep jogging for 30 minutes, slowly, but I can do it. I’m also amazed at the will power I’ve developed at pushing myself to get out and jog even if the weather is naff! The running has also led to some amazing changes in my body shape. There’s no longer any wobble anywhere on my legs, and my bum is pretty toned (it’s been many years…) – I have firm muscles in places I didn’t know they could exist. I’m feeling more confident in the changes that are taking place. And my growing confidence in my running ability means I’m already signed up for a 5k, 10k and half marathon in the next 12 months!”

“I came back to onesixeight: fitness for help with getting fit and toning up after realising that I lacked motivation when it came to going to the gym. I knew I needed to get back in the swing of regular exercise and do it in a way that wouldn’t impact too heavily on my workload. The half an hour sessions are high intensity and burn calories in a short space of time, allowing it to fit well around my other activities.

At first, I was worried about how much structure to the programme I would get, but I have been given a nutrition plan and I regularly attend 3 training sessions a week and I’ve even bought a mountain bike and now cycle as an additional activity around training!

“Before I started working with Becky I ran 3 times a week but felt that I needed some variation in my training to help me progress. With half marathons and a marathon goal to achieve, I needed guidance on how to increase my stamina in order to comfortably run for longer than 6 miles or an hour of training. With Becky’s knowledge of running and overall fitness training I believed I would get the support I needed to achieve my goals.
I had never previously been to a personal trainer so I was unsure of going to training sessions which were so focused on me. I was also unsure whether I wanted to join in group training sessions. I now know that I had absolutely nothing to be afraid of. I find both the personal one to one sessions and the small group sessions equally as fun and challenging as each other.
With Becky we have focused on a variety of things to help me progress. Core exercises, interval training, deadlifting, circuit training have all helped to increase my level of fitness and my confidence. Becky also answers any questions when I find myself tackling a certain fitness or nutrition issue.
As a result of working with Becky for the last 18 months I am now regularly entering half marathon runs and have now completed 2 full marathons within 6 months. I have the next marathon planned for May and also aim to complete another marathon before the end of 2016. I think my greatest achievement was completing the Robin Hood half marathon, a full marathon in Italy and the Birmingham half marathon all within a 4 week period. I was very pleased that the two half marathons were the most comfortable half marathons I have ran to date, both in a time of just over 1:52. The Italian marathon was completed in a time of just over 4:18 on a very sunny day in 22 degrees heat!”

“I signed up to onesixeight: fitness 14 weeks ago with the aim to to get fit and lose weight. I had slowly started to put weight on over the years, and although I was quite physically strong, I was very unfit.
I had tried joining a gym but soon lost motivation. I felt I needed a personal trainer but the cost had put me off. As this works in small groups it make it affordable. I was also concerned I wouldn’t be able to keep up with an established group but was happy to see a mixture of abilities.

Before I started, I was reasonably fit – exercising three or four times a week (gym, swim, walking) but needed a change and to do something different.

“Being a very busy self-employed person, I found it difficult to take any time for myself. Seeing the ad on Facebook was just the incentive I needed – surely I could spare that bit of time for me?
From the first session, I have loved every minute of it. Becky’s enthusiasm and motivation is infectious and I now look forward to each and every one of my classes. In fact, I miss them on the days off.
The classes themselves fly by with a mixture of aerobic, core and toning exercises, all of which I love. Each day a different routine – from squats to jumping jacks and from push ups to cruches and more – I’ve even mastered the dreaded burpee! The camaraderie amongst the other participants is great too – always encouraging each other to keep going. For me, the fact that there are never more than 4 or 5 people too is a big plus – it means Becky ensures that we’re all doing each individual exercise properly.

“I’ll be honest, i’m all for a freebie so when I signed up on Facebook for a free sample session I didn’t know if it would lead onto anything more… I’d previously only been going to a fitness class one night a week and when I missed a session, or two, it would be weeks before I’d be exercising again. I noticed that my legs weren’t as toned as I would like them to be and was feeling generally a bit flabby!!
I loved the 30min sample session so it was a no brainier to sign up. The only slight reservation I had was how would I manage 3 sessions a week and what results would I get in only a 30 minute session? My reservations were laid to rest after a few weeks.
I have a strong mind, so psychologically telling myself ‘it’s only 30 minutes’ motivated me to keep going to each class. I love the different workouts, found I pushed myself more than I would if the class was for an hour and could easily fit the sessions into my working week.
The best result is I feel great about my body.  Yes, I’ve still got flabby bits but my legs are toned, I can literally feel the muscles in my back, my arms are stronger (I even managed the monkey bars at an outdoor adventure playground recently) and I think I’ve got a 2 pack starting to appear!

“At the beginning of this year I weighed 15 stone and I hated myself so much. I saw that my friend had joined a diet club and so I decided to try. In 6 months, I lost over 3 stone but I knew I needed to start exercising.
I didn’t want to go to the gym because I didn’t like it – instead of losing weight I seemed to gain! I started aqua jogging once a week and I also tried group exercise classes and ended up with knee pain.

“I used to love exercising and was a keen gym member before having my son a year ago. Since then I have struggled to find time to exercise as I also work full time. I always thought of ‘personal training’ as expensive and (never having had a personal trainer before) I was fearful of the unknown too. I also wanted to make sure that it could be flexible each week as my diary varies from week to week.

The London Olympics inspired me to get active and join the onesixeight: fitness running sessions in 2012. At first I was unable to attend regularly, but now I am attending 4 sessions a week and have been doing so for several months.
My biggest achievement has been able to complete three 10k runs and bettering my time by 8 minutes at last weekend’s Great Manchester Run. When I initially started the run sessions I would stop at the first sign of a hill, however, on Sunday I completed the run without stopping including the inclines!

“Before joining onesixeight: fitness, I was stuck in a rut following an injury. I had got out of the habit of exercising and was using my injury as an excuse to do nothing.  I came to onesixeight: fitness to give me the motivation to get my fitness back!  Over 18 months later I am still incredibly motivated to exercise, and thoroughly enjoy all aspects of being part of the onesixeight: fitness family!
My biggest reservation about joining onesixeight: fitness was that I wouldn’t be able to cope.  But with the help and expertise of Becky and the rest of the team we found an exercise regime that worked for me.  My other reservation was that I wouldn’t have time to fit it in around my work commitments, but I now think that was just excuse! The number of sessions available and the flexibility of sessions fits with my schedule perfectly.

I had tried gym classes before but they never fitted timewise with my work and childcare commitments – I always managed to find an excuse not to go. Jane’s Personal Training Success Story – “My goal was to be fit at 50!”
As a Mum of four children, one of whom has severe complex medical and physical needs, I found it difficult to fit in regular exercise. My husband works away quite a lot so I spend a lot of time playing taxi driver!  Before having a family I used to go to the gym or exercise classes three or four times a week.  I attended step classes a week up until the birth of my eldest son!  As the children got older and I started working again ‘me time’ was very limited.  My weight crept up and due to a long standing knee injury I always found excuses not to exercise. I joined onesixeight about two years ago and started with the beginners running club.  Unfortunately this aggravated my knee injury so decided to have a go at the bounce classes.  It was great fun and I began to feel fitter and with a healthy diet I began to lose weight.  I did some 1:1 training and small group sessions and almost became obsessed!  I now even have a trampoline at home for the times I can’t get to the studio. I’ve loved every minute with onesixeight and my outlook on exercise has completely changed.  I no longer make excuses and I actually miss my sessions if I’m not able to make it. I really enjoy the personal touch to the small group training sessions and have met some very like-minded people. My biggest success to date was dropping almost two dress sizes and getting into a size 10 in jeans.  My goal was to be fit at 50! Great work, Jane! You are an inspiration to us all 🙂

Becky’s Personal Training Success Story – “I ran 5K within my target time!”
“I came to Becky for help, as I need to be physically strong for my job. I thought the training might be painful because I am in constant pain with my shoulders and it has been painful at times, but I have been working through the pain. Becky and the others have helped me to build my strength by using my core, so I am not using my shoulders as much. I can now use the 10 kg weight with out any problems and I am working up to the 12 kg weight.
I also ran the 5K Santa Fun Run and was really pleased that I finished it and within my target time!”

“I contacted Becky because I was lacking motivation to get out and exercise on my own.
Initially, I wanted to run with a group again so I was unsure about the small group indoor PT sessions and whether or not I would like them, however, the mixture of bounce and strength exercises is just great and I thoroughly enjoy every session!

Diane’s Personal Training Success Story – “I really feel like I am going to have Becky’s Guilt-Free Christmas!”

Diane has been training with onesixeight: fitness for over a year and is pleased with her most recent success during her Christmas challenge. Since attending the October workshop, Diane has been setting herself weekly objectives to challenge herself. Her weight loss goal was to lose ½ pound each week in the lead up to Christmas and she has successfully achieved this goal – even whilst enjoying her Christmas parties!

Diane’s fitness target was to do 20 sessions over 10 weeks, and even after increasing her target to 30 sessions, Diane has still already achieved this goal too. Doing the extra PT session each week has helped Diane’s weight loss and fitness gains and she is now feeling fitter than ever. Diane is more flexible in her upper back and really feels like she is going to have the guilt-free Christmas that she deserves.

Anne’s Personal Training Success Story – “I found results after only attending for a week!”
“I recently retired in August of this year. Up until 5 years ago I had gone to the gym regularly, then I took on a voluntary role which meant lots of evening meetings and then I also took on additional civic duties. I was a very busy person and so the gym got sidelined. I would make excuses to myself that I was too busy to go to the gym but in reality I could have found time. I promised myself that I would go to the gym when I retired. It got to November and that still hadn’t happened! I went to Becky to do just a month to get me motivated to go back to the gym. I completed the month and decided that there have been such significant changes to me that I have now signed up for a further six months as I would never have achieved so much left to my own devices at the gym.

At my first meeting with Becky she explained that there were small group sessions for half an hour each session. I had always had one hour sessions at the gym and couldn’t believe that anything much would be achieved in half an hour. I was wrong!! Because the sessions are intense and there is a personal trainer standing in front of you making sure you are doing the exercises correctly it is much more effective than going to the gym and takes up less time. Becky is a very bubbly person and we always have a good laugh in the sessions. It is great fun and something to look forward to rather than a chore that going to the gym has always been for me in the past. I found results after only attending for a week. I have always been slim but was finding that my middle was becoming bigger than I was happy with. That has now been noticeably improved. I also notice that my balance is remarkably better now than when I started.”

Tracy’s Personal Training Success Story – “I am no longer afraid of the 10kg ball!”

Having lost about a stone since Jan through changing my eating habits and working out on my own at home, I needed something to keep me motivated to exercise. I was getting bored of doing things at home and didn’t feel I was challenging myself enough. I knew it was important to keep up the exercise to maintain my weight loss.

Before I came to onesixeight: fitness, I was concerned that I wouldn’t have enough time to fit in enough sessions, but the process has been very easy and the flexibility with the timetable means that I am able to come to sessions 5 times per week!
My best result so far has been the increase in my strength, which was one of my goals. I am no longer afraid of the 10kg ball and I will want something heavier soon!

Helen’s Personal Training Success Story – “I can now fit in my favourite red dress again!”

“I started with onesixeight fitness because I felt like I was in a bit of a rut. I hadn’t exercised for a few months due to an injury and in those few months I’d become lazy and lost my motivation. I’d also started to notice that the clothes I loved to wear didn’t fit anymore. I knew that if I wanted to get back into my favorite red vintage dress and to stay motivated to exercise over the winter months I needed to make a change.

Initially I wasn’t sure about signing up for the PT sessions. I was worried about the cost and about exercising as part of a group. My only previous experience of this was PE at school and it’s fair to say I hated every minute of it! Still, I needn’t have worried. Becky, Liam, Jake and all the other members of team onesixeight make exercising a pleasure. Everyone is so friendly and encouraging and they really do create an atmosphere where I can stop feeling self-conscious and just get on with challenging & improving myself. The cost isn’t an issue at all now that I’ve got started and realize how much good the training is doing me. Previously I wouldn’t think twice about spending lots of money on a night out which would leave me feeling hungover so it actually feels good to be prioritizing my health and well-being. I’m only four weeks into my onesixeight experience but I already feel stronger, fitter and more positive. I’m mastering exercises that I really struggled with few weeks ago. I can now do a minute of v-sits, an exercise I dreaded at the start. And I tried my vintage red dress on yesterday. And it fits again!”

“Before I joined onesixeight: fitness, I was overweight, unfit and unhappy!  I decided I needed to do something to change my way of life and I needed more than just a generic gym membership. I needed the support, guidance and encouragement from someone. Initially, I was worried that I would find everything too hard after almost a year out of exercise following an injury and that my foot wouldn’t cope with what would be thrown at me, but I was wrong. Everything was changed and adapted to suit my needs and I can now do things that I said I would never be able to do. Also, I didn’t think I’d have the time to commit but flexibility from both sides has allowed me to exercise at least an hour 5 days a week.
