What is Rebounding?
 What is a rebounder?
Rebounding exercises are done on small circular trampolines called rebounders that have been designed to give extra spring and absorb impact. Sessions typically last 45 minutes and can be tailored to focus on cardio, strength and sport-specific routines.

Rebounding is very different to regular trampolining, the aim is to perform a series of small, controlled movements rather than to bounce high or perform gymnastic tricks.

How does it work?

Moves such as squats, lunges and sprints are performed between jogging and bouncing recovery. The idea is to concentrate on the downward push with your knees bent and hips pulled back rather than the leap. If you really want to feel the burn you can do plyometric exercises such as squat jumps or add resistance by using sand weights and a medicine ball.

Who is it good for?

Rebounding is suitable for everyone, but especially good for:
  • Rehabilitating athletes
  • Osteoporosis, arthritis and asthma sufferers
  • Young athletes

How will it benefit me?

By concentrating on sinking into the rebounder you can generate a gravitational pull of up to 3.24Gs, which will increase your bodyweight and make the exercises feel more challenging. With the right technique, using a 3lb weight, for example, will feel closer to 10lbs of resistance.

The unstable surface will help to improve your balance and develop your core, while the elastic platform reduces the shock of impact by 87%. With a softer surface you reduce the stress on the heart, the muscles and especially the joints, without compromising your workout. This allows athletes to maintain their cardiovascular fitness without putting strain on an injury.

The workout also encourages the body to move in a way that activates the lymphatic system, which helps speed up the processing of lactic acid so you can train harder for longer and slash your recovery time.
